Minita Sanghvi has been elected Commissioner of Finance for Saratoga Springs City Council.
She serves on the Saratoga Springs Public Library Board as the Finance Officer. She’s also served on the Saratoga Springs Charter Review Commission and is a founding member of the Saratoga Springs Human Rights Task Force.
A tenured Business Professor at Skidmore College, she holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Bombay, a Masters in Retailing and Consumer Sciences from the University of Arizona and a PhD from Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
She has worked with businesses such as Leo Burnett, one of the world’s largest ad agencies, CARQUEST and Wal-Mart.
Minita is ready to bring her finance and business experience as well as her academic background to Saratoga’s Finance Office.
Minita was born in Bombay, India into a family of entrepreneurs. Her grandfather, Mr. D. J. Sanghvi, is known as the pioneer of the pen industry in India.
She moved to the United States in 2001 and became a U.S. Citizen in 2010. While in Greensboro, NC, Minita served on the Human Relations Commission whose mission was to encourage fair treatment and promote mutual understanding and respect among all.
She moved to Saratoga Springs in 2014 to teach at Skidmore College in the Management and Business Department. Since then, Minita has built a family in Saratoga Springs with her wife Megan and their son Jamie. They love spending time downtown, taking walks in Congress Park and Saratoga Spa State Park together. Minita and Megan love watching their son play Little League Baseball.
